I know you from somewhere!

Last night at dinner I met someone who looked familiar. He must be in the music world or we would not have been guests at that table. But who might he be? He is a percussionist.

Then it hit me: He had performed in the unforgettable Argento concert I heard three weeks ago, the concert which moved me to tears had moved him also to tears. He must have been so present in his drumming that I could not forget his face. How rare is that!

The dinner guests included the panel who chose the winners of the annual Ursula Mamlok award, whose concert is this afternoon. Everyone close to Ursula knows that she valued personal involvement in tone more than anything else, that sharing that was her life's mission. That we all understood that was made plain on so many levels in the course of the evening.
