The Tonal
Refraction Store
    Three private sessions of TONALRefraction (each session approximately 1 1/4 hours)
      • will solve the stated problem or
      • will illuminate its depth in such a way as to render it
          musically meaningful.
    TONALRefraction may be applied:
      1. In reference to a printed score - to address a specific
          piece of music or problem.
      2. In reference to imagined or remembered sound -
           to illuminate deep underlying musical problems.
    By affirming flexible hearing     TONALRefraction yields improved
    coordination in a holistic approach to music. Done in silence,
    the work might be supplemented with exercises to extend the
    person's range of hearing.
      • Session One introduces the color/tone analogy and basic spatial propositions. As a rule the impact is felt already in the first session.
      • Session Two relates the persons's ear logic to the music in question with suggested modifications. The person by this time internalizes the relevance of the process.
      • Session Three assesses the process and indicates ways to work under the influence of       TONALRefraction

    TONALRefraction may be further pursued in single sessions at advanced levels
      • to explore extended structures
      • to hypothesize different tonal propositions
      • to further sensitize the ear to tonal variation
      • to speculate on compositional thinking of
          master composers
